We have the final tour blog entry today from The Poozies who ended their latest tour on a high at the Sage Gateshead. But fear not, there’s a new album on the way and a tour in March 2015!

Well, after a cracking couple of nights in Havant and Newbury (both new venues for us, and lovely audiences) The Poozies tour ended with a very happy climax at the Sage Gateshead – one of our all-time favourite venues. The crowd were amazing, so friendly, and there were some special friends of ours in the audience, which made it all the more wonderful. Our agent, Craig had brought a couple of bottles of bubbly, and we had a lovely wee celebration of a successful tour backstage afterwards with our pals. We were all a little bit sad to say goodbye the next day, but are really excited about finishing the new album and getting it out for our two and half week tour in March. We’ve already had people at some of the gigs saying that they are coming to gigs on that tour too, so that is really rewarding – thanks!
We’ve also got some rehearsal dates booked in for February, to hopefully get some new things together. There’s no exact rule we apply, but the way we usually approach this is to look at what we feel has done its time on the setlist (for now, nothing’s ever gone for good…) and set out to arrange a song or tunes which would fit well in its place. Some things fall into place easily and some things don’t – but then this doesn’t always define what is ultimately going to be a hit or not. Lots of times we’ve spent ages working on something that we really enjoy, only to tighten it up, end finally say, ‘actually, I don’t think I like this anymore….’, and it’s back to square one! But that’s okay – binning the odd thing here or there really makes sure we are happy with the new sets that make it, and we all enjoy that creative process. Especially as rehearsals are really just a vehicle for eating chocolate.
It’s always great to revisit some of the real golden-oldies too – and sometimes reworking them a wee bit too. A gig is not really a Poozie gig without Another Train, and, seeing how much the audience still enjoy it after all these years, we never get bored of singing it. Meanwhile, the Ship of Love – co-written by Mary and Sally, and from the second album in 1995 – has had a whole new lease of life with the addition of the earlier-mentioned actions! We never did manage to get that photo from stage – every night in the dressing room we said ‘we must remember to take a phone on stage’ to take a quick shot, but we seem to be programmed to leave them in the dressing room. That’s probably for the best though; there’s some embarrassing ringtones that could add an interesting harmony or two. You will just have to take our word for it – you all looked incredible out there, and it was the highlight of the night for us, every night.
And so, that’s us for now – we’re off to put the finishing touches to the album, and the spring tour promo.
