We have a track premiere today from Americana/Folk duo, The Harmaleighs. The track is from the Nashville-based duo’s LP, Pretty Pictures, Dirty Brush, slated for release February 2015.
They told us that ‘Doll Made of Glass portrays the fragile state of a bad relationship, being broken & unable to put the pieces back together’. It’s a lovely opener which builds with harmonies heightened by subtle use of lap steel. Where it gathers its emotional punch is in how it glides along, like an undercurrent of fate accentuating that feeling of numbness that comes across in the vocals delivering a message that she knows will fall on deaf ears again. It’s all put together both simply and beautifully, they are an impressive duo which is why we’ve also chosen it as our Song of the Day.
