Samantha Crain has been busy touring with First Aid Kit recently. Towards the end of the tour they began performing a song together called “Waiter at the Station,” which was written by Willy Mason’s parents. You can watch them singing it at Chicago’s Vic Theatre below:
In other news Samantha told fans she was heading back to the studio to work on a new record and that she’d be working with John Vanderslide:
I am very excited to get into the studio next week to work on a new record. Yep, that’s right, in just 7 days, I’ll be heading up to San Francisco to Tiny Telephone studio to work with John Vanderslice and the Magik*Magik Orchestra on my new album! I really can’t wait for you all to hear these new songs!
Bloodshot Records also celebrated their 20th Anniversary which they marked with a compilation record called “While No One Was Looking,” on which Samantha covered the Ha Ha Tonka song, “Cold Forgiver,” for it.
It’s an album worth getting your hands on, it also features Andrew Bird, Ben Kweller, Frank Turner and more. You can get your copy here. Here’s a taster with another track on the album – Blitzen Trapper performing a Ryan Adams classic:
