We have a special UK video premiere and Song of the Day from Newfoundland folk-trio The Once as they share their official music video for We Are All Running, the first single from their latest album, Departures one of FRUK’s Albums Of The Month.
The video is a collection of footage shot over three months during the North American leg of the band’s first world tour as support for US label-mate Passenger. It’s part American travelogue, mixing snippets of live footage that instantly inspire a craving to the see the band, with Geraldine Hollett’s superb voice given gorgeous support by Andrew Dale and Phil Churchill singing sweet harmony, while Andrew adds a killer mandolin line. As suggested in my review of the album, the track holds a card up its sleeve for the finale too. It’s a beautiful and poignant work that has our common destiny at its heart.
The Once still have some live dates to run in the UK (see below). Next year, they will head back on the road again for a headlining world tour of their own, beginning in March 2015 in Montreal, Canada and ending at my old home town of Birmingham in the UK in May.
