We continue with our guest blog from The Poozies having returned to the UK stages this month they share some of those highlights and share some of their collective schemes thought up whilst travelling together between gigs. We think you’ll be impressed, over to Eilidh Shaw:
Guest Tour Blog Part 2
Well here we are with most of the tour under our belts and everybody’s still in one piece. We had a day off on Wednesday, so we had a rehearsal at Sally’s house. We decided the way forward was to write a Christmas song that will be a massive hit, either for us or some famous pop star, with the royalties each festive season keeping us all in the lifestyle we’d like to become accustomed. Sally rose to the task with great aplomb and it’s almost in the bag, but it won’t become public this Christmas as we need more time to do all the behind-the-scenes work that this kind of operation requires. Does anybody have a snow machine we can borrow? I wonder where East 17 got theirs from, and if they still need it? If anyone has their number…

Mary and Mairearad
On Thursday night we had a brawsome gig in Bridport, Dorset. Sally had bought a magazine about running and read lots of it out to us on the drive, and also regaled the crowd with fascinating titbits from the articles she’d read. Whilst we haven’t actually engaged in any of it, we all feel much healthier as a result. The audience were quite cheeky, which we like, although they seemed to think the idea of us doing a fitness video was hilarious. In fact, we’ve mentioned this to a couple of our audiences and nobody seems to be taking it seriously. Maybe it’ll never happen as we haven’t managed to find a way to exercise without spilling our gin and tonics – looks like it has to be one or the other.
We were all staying with various lovely ladies around the town, who took us to some excellent drinking establishments after the gig. We don’t often stay with folk on tour – we genuinely love getting local knowledge and insights, but when you’re on a semi-nocturnal sleep shift you generally (or so we feel) make horrible house guests – but the Bridport ladies didn’t mind at all. A downside of touring can often be the time spent in limbo – time seems to evaporate between driving, sound checking, checking-in, dinner – and so whilst the audience is filing in, we can often be found napping in dressing rooms! Speaking of which – Friday’s in Havant was completely sold out (hurrah!), not a spare seat to be had. More on that totally ace gig, and the last few – as well as a wee look at our sets, old and from the new album (oooooh) next time. This blogger has a very long train home to Mallaig to fill! :-)
More soon..
