Bringing together two of the UK’s finest voices in alternative folk, Lost Map Records recently released a special split 7” single by Bristol friends Rozi Plain and Rachael Dadd.
Both Rozi and Rachael are long-time favourites on Folk Radio UK and so it’s with great pleasure that we’ve selected ‘Jogalong’ as our Song of the Day with the additional bonus of premiering her new video below. As well as featuring on the single Jogalong is also the first track to be revealed from Rozi’s forthcoming new album (TBA). The video was shot by Rachel Horwood – Rozi’s pal, who plays drums in the band Trash Kit (she features at the end).
One of Lost Map’s founding artists and among the most respected and popular talents on the label, Rozi’s entrancing new sound on ‘Jogalong’ bodes excitingly for the much anticipated follow-up to her two remarkable albums to date – 2008’s Inside Over Here and 2012’s Joined Sometimes Unjoined, both currently available on Lost Map – engineered by Kristian Robinson (Capitol K) back in January 2014, and featuring contributions from Gerard Black and Amaury Ranger (Babe / François & The Atlas Mountains), Kate Stables and Jamie Coles (This Is The Kit, of which band Rozi is also a member), and singer-harpist Serafina Steer.
Also featured on the single is the stunning ‘Strike Our Scythes’, taken from Rachael Dadd’s new album We Resonate, which we also recently featured as a Song of the Day (watch the video here and listen below). The album is released via French label Talitres on November 17. The album features contributions from Laura Marling’s sideman Marcus Hamblett, experimental Japanese multi-instrumentalist ICHI, Alessi Laurent-Marke of Alessi’s Ark and Rozi Plain among others. Rachael is the recipient of an Emerging Excellence Award by Help Musicians UK, and We Resonate is her fourth full-length album to date.
Rozi and Rachael are touring the UK together see dates below.
