Having just played an eye and ear catching set at the Folk Expo over the weekend, Luke Daniels is just setting off on his UK tour. Already recognised for his virtuosic accordion work as a regular member of Cara Dillon’s band, and for his contributions to the soundtracks to Peter Jackson’s epic Tolkein films, Luke is demonstrating another side of his musical persona and brushing off his multi-instrumental skills, with a wonderful new album, What’s Here What’s Gone. Featuring all original songs, the record explores a complex set of ideas in search of our common humanity.
Our Song Of The Day is Way Back Home, which interlinks hints of the Brigadoon mythology with a wider sense of the journey we are all on. The song features the pedal and lap steel of CJ Hillman and mixes in a gospel feel, adding to the wider meaning of coming home.
