Rohin Brown, Paul Mclean and Jay Drury go under the moniker of The Walking Who, a Sydney based band who hit our radar this week. They have new EP due for release any moment which according to the PR the majority of the writing process took place in the idyllic setting of Byron Bay, which the band admit unexpectedly influenced their sound.
Remnants of folk and country can be heard, mixed with equal parts positivity and darkness. That aside I can’t get enough of their new single With Roses for which a video has just been unveiled. With influences including Anton Newcombe, Syd Barrett and Lou Reed the undertones of surf and psychedelia on the new single made it an instant win and the video is truly the finest topping you could offer.
It was directed by the band and produced by L.A Early, an American-born and Sydney-based artist who combines Australiana with international images and ideas. According to her bio she uses vintage books and magazines, she is strictly cut and paste. Her work revolves around a wanting for the whimsical, cynical and often the surreal. Whether using subjects or landscapes, Leah appropriates images from here and there to find a space that exists both in and out of our world.
