Whilst many of you have heard of the Elysian Quartet fewer will be as familiar with their constituent parts although in the case of Laura Moody – alternative cellist, vocalist and avant-singer songwriter – that is all set to change with the release of her debut album Acrobats.
Pin-pointing where her music sits in relation to other common points of reference is probably the most difficult for her music is so filled with spontaneous personal energy and focus that her music is perfectly unsuited to fit in a box…how music maybe should be in a perfect world.
To celebrate the release of her album she has recorded and a number of live performances which she will be sharing over the coming weeks. The first is a cover of Nick Drake’s Cello Song on which she says. Laura says “Nick Drake’s words, voice and music have meant a huge amount to me over the years and I’m so grateful to Bryter Music for giving their blessing to my releasing my arrangement of this song.”
‘Acrobats’, features six original songs by Laura Moody and her re-imagining of Nick Drake’s iconic ‘Cello Song’.
