Our Song of the Day comes from Fifteen Days, the moniker of Darren Plant, originally from the Midlands now based in London. ‘Til The Day You Die is taken from his latest EP The Oldest Lie, the title of which is taken from a verse in this song.
The songs that feature on the EP share the sparse loneliness evoked in this song which is only lifted by the finger picked acoustic guitar which lightens the air and lends the feeling that the subject, whilst not unchanged, has reached the end of a healing process from loss. Despite the melancholic nature of his short-versed songs there is an underlying beauty, and at times a numbness that you find yourself drifting with.
The EP was recorded in his flat and lends itself to a quiet evening listen. A sentiment that is heightened by the EP cover which I imagine is the night view from his window, the one that frames his solitary meditations before he writes.
