Today’s Song of the Day comes via the Second Language label and a cast of characters who congregate under the collective banner of Silver Servants to indulge in the outer margins of electro-acoustic experimentation.
The track ‘Jerusalem’ was a late addition to an album that has been evolving since 2010 and is a take on William Blake/Sir Hubert Parry’s ‘Jerusalem,’ courtesy of Keiron Phelan of littlebow and featuring Anna Brønsted of Our Broken Garden.
For anyone that has followed the output of Second Language this is a must have album. It has developed along with the label roster which began with Katie English (Isnaj Dui), Oliver Cherer (Dollboy), Angèle David-Guillou (Klima), David Sheppard (Ellis Island Sound), Glen Johnson and Jerome Tcherneyan (both of Piano Magic). The in 2012 Zizi Kanaan of The Eyes In The Heat, Sharron Kraus, Aine O’Dwyer, Nick Palmer aka Directorsound, Mark and Roxy Fry, Robin Saville (ISAN), Frances Castle (The Hardy Tree) and Nick Franglen (Lemon Jelly) added their magic.
The result is, as intended, something of an uncut jewel, an inspired, protean collection of modern pop songs by a disparate cast of characters on the outer margins of electro-acoustic experimentation.
