We recently shared with you the news that Burning Bridges & Fifth Column Films have stated a Kickstarter campaign which we are supporting to make a feature documentary called The Ballad of Shirley Collins.
In their most recent project update they have also announced that there will be a tribute album from which we have taken two Songs of the Day. This is a new Bonnie “Prince” Billy’s recording of the 18th Century English folk song Pretty Saro. With an arrangement by Bitchin Bajas, it’s one of the many standout tracks on the album.
The album features a really eclectic range of American, British and Canadian artists, many of who have featured on Folk Radio UK over the years including husband wife duo Arborea (our second song of the day), reflecting the variety of musical strands that have been influenced by Shirley’s work.
As of today the following have confirmed their participation:
Ned Oldham
Will Oldham
Kurt Vile
Graham Coxon
Johnny Flynn
Sharron Kraus
Alasdair Roberts and David McGuinness

The FLK
Grumbling Fur
Belbury Poly
