Robert Plant has announced the release of his new album ‘Lullaby and…The Ceaseless Roar’. Plant has described the album as a sort of homecoming. For the album trailer he starts by saying ‘I’ve been away a long time from these borders, I’ve been away from them even when I was in them.’ He later adds ‘It’s about lifespan, about music, about obsession. I guess it’s a kind of soul searching in a way and a sense of homecoming. These songs are an ode to life and love and the fragile adventure that you set out upon unknowingly and unwittingly.’
Produced by Plant the album is also his label debut on Nonesuch/East West Records. It features 11 new recordings, 9 of which are original songs written by Robert Plant with his band, The Sensational Space Shifters.
Listen to the track ‘Little Maggie’ it’s really something special, a traditional arrangement fusing roots and desert blues along with looping electronics. “It’s really a celebratory record, powerful, gritty, African, Trance meets Zep,” Plant says.
The first single from the album titled ‘Rainbow,’ will be released this summer.
His band include Justin Adams: bendirs, djembe, guitars, tehardant, background vocals; John Baggott: keyboards, loops, moog bass, piano, tabal, background vocals; Juldeh Camara: kologo, ritti, Fulani vocals; Billy Fuller: bass, drum programming, omnichord, upright bass; Dave Smith: drum set; and Liam “Skin” Tyson: banjo, guitar, background vocals.
