Whilst best known as the birth place of the Californian wine industry Sonoma Valley is also where songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Marty O’Reilly hails.
The roots of his musical inspiration are further from home with the likes of Texas born Blind Willie Johnson and some big leanings towards the Mississippi Delta’s Blues and Gospel. Dig around a bit more and you’ll find he has some more progressive influences in the form of John Fahey’s American Primitive to the gravelled offerings of Tom Waits.
When performing as a trio with Jeff Kissell on the Double Bass and Chris Lynch on the fiddle the addition of The Old Soul Orchestra adds that extra spark as demonstrated in out Song of the Day ‘When The Water Runs Out‘.
