First Aid Kit have unveiled their new video for ‘Cedar Lane’, a new track from their forthcoming album ‘Stay Gold’ (released 9th June on Columbia) which we’ve also chosen as our Song of the Day.
The video has a gentle touch of flower-power, harkening back to Lee Hazlewood productions who along with Townes van Zandt’s Our Mother The Mountain is said to have inspired the new album on which the songstresses have been sharpening their pencils to bring their most poignant lyrics to date. They explain, “It’s song about searching for a reason to keep on keeping on, to find the good that comes with the bad. We wanted to create a piece that was dark yet uplifting at the same time.”
It’s one we’re really looking forward to.
The new ten-track album was recorded at ARC studios in Omaha and produced by Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes, Monsters of Folk), the duo also enlisted The Omaha Symphony Orchestra to play on the record, with arrangements by Nate Walcott (Bright Eyes, Broken Bells, Rilo Kiley).
