Blackbeard’s Tea Party actually began life as a busking, function and ceilidh band. But as anyone who follows the British Folk scene knows we have a fantastic grapevine for spreading the word. The news of Blackbeard’s Tea Party’s lively performances rapidly spread. They went from playing sell-out gigs in their home town of York to playing Sidmouth, Shrewsbury and a headline slot at Galtres, amongst others.
They released their critically acclaimed debut album ‘Tomorrow We’ll Be Sober’ in 2011 which R2 Magazine gave a five star rating adding to their ever-growing reputation. 2013 was their biggest year yet with the release of their second album “Whip Jamboree” accompanied by their first UK headline tour. During the summer of 2013 they performed at numerous festivals, including a return to Sidmouth plus appearances at Beverley, another headline slot at Galtres, alongside first time visits to Broadstairs, Holmfirth and many more.
Not surprisingly their diary for 2014 is filling up with numerous major festival appearances now confirmed including Glastonbury, Cambridge Folk Festival, Cropredy and the Rainforest World Music Festival in Borneo. Here they are with their latest video The Valiant Turpin
