Cara Dillon returns after a gap of almost five years with a stunning new album A Thousand Hearts to be released on 19th of May. The album follows the acclaimed Hill Of Thieves which won “Album Of The Year” at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards in 2010 and is once again produced by Cara’s partner Sam Lakeman.
They have assembled a great band and some notable guests including, Timothy B Schmit (The Eagles), American singer/songwriter Aoife O’Donovan and English folk guitarist and singer John Smith.
As suggested by the lovely artwork the album features 11 songs themed around affairs of the heart, which have all come to mean something special to Cara. These include Shawn Colvin’s Avalanche, a stunning version of River, Run by little known 90’s indie pop act Suddenly Tammy! which Cara says is “a beautiful song about River Phoenix – it’s something we used to do at soundchecks,” and also traditional song As I Roved Out, all delivered as if they were her own.
