Alister Atkin is set to release a second album, To Evangaline, recorded with his band, The Ghost Line Carnival. We’ll have a full appraisal of the excellent new CD in the immediate future, so stay tuned. Meanwhile you can enjoy the video for the song Sea Dogs now.
Alister is also internationally renowned as a luthier making guitars for the great and good. And news has reached us that Alister has been commissioned to build eight replica guitars for The Buddy Holly Educational Foundation. Each guitar carries a fret from Buddy’s original guitar which is inlaid in the sound hole and each will be presented to a well known guitarist at an event arranged by the Foundation that is taking place at Abbey Road Studios on 6th March.
Expect a star studded cast in attendance with the event being filmed. In a nice twist, every two years each guitar will be passed to a new recipient.
Buddy’s widow, Maria Elena Holly has given her blessing and Alister says, “This project has been a major undertaking and a real honour. We have gone to great lengths to bring an authentic yet contemporary feel to the guitars we have made. These guitars will take their place in the story of Rock and Roll.”
