James Apollo and his band of roustabouts releases their new album Angelorum on 12 May (UK) from which he has just revealed the new video Spinnin which features the band and their dog as ghosts occupying an abandoned warehouse into which two foolhardy girls seem set on exploring. A great video directed by Jason Affolder.
Whilst time has moved on since we first featured James Apollo’s ‘Road Mix‘ (listen below) which he did for us back in 2011 his music still maintains that classic sound which picks up the shiniest fragments over time and reforges them into a new object of desire…here’s a reminder of what floats his boat.
James Apollo’s Road Mix (Exclusive Guest Mix) by Folk Radio Uk on Mixcloud
James Apollo is restless as a willow in a windstorm. If he’s not breaking his legs in motorcycle accidents, or barreling down highways to get to the show on time, he’s screwing his life up at home, leaving a trail of wreckage usually left to generals and junkyard foreman.
James Apollo and his band of roustabouts having been roaming the countryside, harping on the pervasive themes of love, loss, loneliness, lies and lamentations, but Apollo steeps it in so much melancholy that even the most dire of tales has you wondering whether he’s cheering for the victim or the cause. And though there may be a wavering smile between castanets, for Apollo, this is about as steady as he’s going to get.
