Our Song of the Day is a gem that has featured in our playlists before. Toolshed was a band that was conceived in 1998 by Graham Massey (808 State). What started as a ‘Toolshed’ night in Manchester grew into something almost freeform and organic attracting a host of growing members which included Paddy Steer (Homelife) Dick Harrison (Spaceheads) Graham Clark (jazz violinist extraordinaire) James Ford (Simian) and the unique multi-octave voice of Seaming To.
Their self-titled debut was released in 2005 on Manchester’s fine independent label Twister Nerve Records on which you can hear ‘I Rooster’ but our Song of the Day is ‘I Rooster II’, a second ambitious attempt to leave the planet which feature on a Twisted Nerve compilation in 2007 called A Kind Of Awe Reverence And Wonder. The album included tracks from other FRUK favourites Voice Of The Seven Woods, Samandtheplants and 9Bach. You can still buy the album via Finders Keepers Records.
