Our Song of the Day is from Tiny Ruins, Me At The Museum, You In The Wintergardens is the first single to be taken from their second album, Brightly Painted One, which is also their first album to be released on Bella Union (Monday 5th May).
New Zealand’s Tiny Ruins aka Hollie Fullbrook, released her debut LP Some Were Meant for Sea in 2011. When Melanie reviewed her debut for FRUK she said:
Having supported the likes of Beach House, Joanna Newsom and Olof Arnalds it goes without saying that this 20 something New Zealander is more than one to watch. In fact she may appear NZ’s answer to Laura Marling, her vocals wise and rich beyond their years, while the clarity of her stripped back folk songs belie the depth in the words uttered and curious stories told.
The band now includes bassist Cass Basil and drummer Alexander Freer and we can honestly say 2014 will be their year.
