Our Song of the Day is also a FRUK video Première from Monoganon for the tender sounding ‘Wasted Teens’ which featured on their most recent album, F A M I L Y. This was also the first album release from new micro-label Lost Map Records last October, a label you should all be following.
Wasted Teens (PostMap 00°7 3’2.2014″) is Monoganon’s first postcard release on Lost Map – that is, the first in a now seven-strong series of releases on the label of physical postcards (each with personalised art and a message from the respective artists) which come stamped with a download code giving access to the standard version of the track (listen below) plus some unique bonus material (in Wasted Teens’ case two remixes, one by Jonnie Common). The postcards can be bought for £1 each or in 5-for-3 bundles. web shop with a bunch of bonus material.
The video features a great performance from John B. McKenna of Monoganon:
A song about meeting a girl called Ylva. She was so encouraging and such a great person to meet and to talk to when I was grieving and generally not feeling very well. We worked in the same bar, went out drinking a lot and formed a sudden and beautiful friendship over coffee in Roots and Fruits every morning.
Original Track
Monoganon are a Glasgow-formed four-piece, led with strength of artistry, willpower and broadband connection from Malmö, Sweden (55°35’N, 13°01’W) by inestimable singer, guitarist and songwriter, Scottish ex-pat John B. McKenna, with dexterous and intuitive support from drummer Colin Kearney, guitarist Andrew Cowan and bassist Susan Bear (and second drummer Keith Smith, when not on an organic Zen Buddhist farm in Bordeaux).
There will be a Lost Map showcase tour happening in the May, featuring Monoganon, The Pictish Trail and our new signings Tuff Love (Monoganon bassist Susan Bear’s other band). Although we cannot reveal those dates just yet you can keep an eye on the Lost Map website for the latest news as well as sign up for their free newsletter which you can do so here.
