Diane Cluck is to release her first album in almost 8 years in anticipation of which she has released a video for her first single ‘Sara’. The video which was directed by Diane and Derrick Belchamis is one of the most beautiful I’ve seen in a long while, set in an autumnal woodland it is beautifully choreographed by Miguel Gutierrez.
Simple gestures and movements create a strong feeling of an other-world. “Sara” manifests the amalgam of inspiration from what swiftly flowed from Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer’s church of Saint Sara, Hindu goddess Kali (the Destroyer), to Ereshkigal documented in Diane’s Song-Of-The-Week project from 2012, where you can hear an early form of “Sara.”
Boneset is Cluck’s seventh release and her first since the 2006 release of Monarcana, marking the return of the much-celebrated neo-folk artist that Devandra Banhart championed as “my favorite singer-songwriter in all of New York City.” A frequent collaborator with CocoRosie, Diane has also been cited as influencing Laura Marling, Sharon Van Etten, and Florence Welch (of Florence And The Machine).
Diane begins her tour of the US this month followed by a UK and Ireland Tour in April which includes some great support acts for select dates, all of which are FRUK favourites and include Mary Hampton, Seamus Fogarty, Will Newsome, Ichi + Richard Dawson.
