Our Artist of the Month for next month is O’Hooley & Tidow whose new album, The Hum is starting to pick up plenty of interest in advance of its release on February the 17th. We ourselves previewed it here and will have a full write up to follow imminently. But the record is already getting support from the likes of Mark Radcliffe and Lauren Laverne.
In the meantime or should that be Meantime (although that’s a London thing), you can watch a video for one of the tracks that has everyone in a ferment. Summat’s Brewin’ (Oh Good Ale) offers an affectionate nod to those bold enough to take on some sizeable coporations, government indifference, high taxes and the apparent slow death by strangulation of British pub culture by starting up their own artisan breweries.

It might not be quite in the same league as the punk revolution in music, but there is still an element of anyone can do it and the girls celebrate the anarchists and anoraks amongst the artisans with equal affection. They namecheck several breweries in their native Yorkshire and Huddersfild in particular. Perhaps you’ve already sampled the wares of Mallinson’s, Milltown, Magic Rock, Sportsman, Riverhead or Summerwine.
Like I say, Meantime, I’ll be spending a few Late Knights round at Clarence & Fredericks listening to The Hum to get my review written. It’s time to grab the Bull By The Horns and get to the Kernel of my critique, you might catch me stroking my Weird Beard as I try to get my Head In A Hat of wise words. You get the picture!
