Suzanne Vega is set to release her first studio album in seven years on February 2, 2014. The ten songs that feature on Tales From The Realm Of The Queen Of Pentacles have been pieced together over the last few years. They each have to do with the world of the body and how the body interacts with the world of the spirit. Talking about the album she said “A lot of my older albums, especially the second one, was about being solitary…this album has more of a sense of connectivity…”
The album has already attracted a lot of publicity over her decision to sample the 50 Cent hit song Candy Shop on ‘Don’t Uncork What You Can’t Contain‘ which will also be released as single in the US where this connection will no doubt give it a good boost. Her music has been sampled by many over the years, none more so than Tom’s Diner but this is her first ever use of sampling in her own music.
The album will bring to the fore many of her broad influences and a range of sounds from Dylan/Stones driven guitar tracks to the the more orchestral. Get a taster below:
