Since winning Best Newcomer at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards in 2010, midlands-born singer, finger-style guitarist and songwriter Sam Carter has been more in demand. From supporting Bellowhead to performances at the Royal Festival Hall for Richard Thompson’s Meltdown to sharing the stage with the great Nic Jones alongside Chris Wood, Martin Simpson and Jon Boden at Sidmouth Folk Week, Sam continues to impress audiences and fellow artists alike with the sheer quality of his songs, playing and voice.
A former Emerging Artist In Residence at the Southbank Centre, where he collaborated with a wealth of talented musicians and artists including Nitin Sawhney, Riz MC (actor Riz Ahmed, star of ‘Ill Manors’), Nathan ‘Flutebox’ Lee and the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Sam went on to support Bellowhead and Seth Lakeman on tour and, as part of the all-star line-up for Music Beyond Mainstream’s Homage to Sandy Denny tour, giving stunning duo performance with legendary fiddler Dave Swarbrick.

This led to renewed discussions about finding time to tour together and eventually both found a small window in their busy schedules, leading to the current dates in March 2014 when Sam’s trio will be accompanied on the road by very special guest Sam Sweeney.
