Our Song of the Day is from Stephanie Hladowski & C. Joynes as featured on their beautiful debut album The Wild Wild Berry released in 2012 via Bo’ Weavil Recordings. The song we’ve chosen is Lord Bateman a traditional English song from a recording of the singing of Joseph Taylor of Saxby-All-Saints, Lincolnshire made in 1908 by Percy Grainger at the Gramophone Company of London.
Also for those that maybe missed Harry Wheeler’s review Stephanie Hladowski’s The High High Nest (2008) you can read it here. Harry also recorded Stephanie singing the traditional folk song ‘In The Month of January’. This was her first performance under her own name recorded in The Heeley Institute, Sheffield at a Singing Knives event on Saturday 19th May 2007.
