The English Folk Dance and Song Society (EFDSS) is delighted to announce the opening of a brand new photographic exhibition curated by Derbyshire born photographer and folk musician, Elly Lucas.
Folktography: A decon/reconstruction will see Elly present a series of self-portraits playing with the stereotypes associated with the visual side to English folk music. Sourced from a social media campaign, the ephemera depicted will explore both the predictable – from Crocs and corduroy – right the way through to the wildly unexpected, with Elly’s tongue firmly planted in cheek.
The exhibition will open Thursday 16 January from 6pm. Thereafter it runs daily 9:30am – 5:30pm and is free (no booking required) until April 2014.

David and Elly, whose career was kickstarted with a BBC Young Folk Award nomination in 2011, combine original and traditional folk influences to create something that boasts an innovative and simply beautiful sound.
