We have a very special video première today from Emily Smith for ‘My Darling Boy’ a song that features on her forthcoming album Echoes. Emily told us about the song in her own words:
My Darling Boy is a mixture of lyrics I had stored up in my head mainly sourced from a traditional song known by various titles such as The Trees They Do Grow High or The College Boy. Some sources say the song is based on an arranged marriage dating back to the 17th century, which may well be the case….The song probably popped into my mind during the recording of my album ‘Echoes’ as I have my own wee darling boy who is only a few months old. He makes his film debut in the video!
On Tuesday 28th January Emily will be performing material from her new album at the Old Fruitmarket in a double bill concert with Tim O’Brien & Darrell Scott. Ahead of its release Emily will be launching an EP featuring selected tracks from Echoes as well as exclusive additional tracks at Celtic Connections.
We will be bringing you more on Echoes very soon which will be one of our Albums of the Month. Read more about the album here.
Echoes is released on February 24, 2014 via White Fall Records. You can pre-order a Ltd Autographed Edition from ProperMusic here.
