Into The Void was one of my favourite tracks from Jack Cheshire’s latest album Long Mind Hotel, the jazzy percussion, jangly Gretsch and laid back vocals of Cheshire are perfectly matched to form a very cool track…so it was a double bonus to find out today that this will be his new single to be released on December 16th and that it is accompanied by an official video which you can watch below:
Written as an ode to nihilism, the track revolves around the premise that most people don’t really care, and that much of life is devoid of meaning. A vessel passing through:
“….memories flood in the old and abandoned, capsize in a terrible sea, I draw no sense, and just weave a path to, the end of the day, and into the dream.”
A disillusioned waltz, ‘Into The Void’ lurches its way down a dimly lit corridor, propelled by super charged jazz drums & wildly-strummed, reverb-soaked Groetsch guitars. It’s a delirious drunken dream imploding on itself and then meandering away into the night…
