Our Song of the Day is an odd one in some respects as the band, according to their facebook, are no longer together but they decided to share the album they made this week. They are Do You Feel What I Feel Deer, a wonderful Brighton based duo that were made up of Eleanor Whittle and Rachel Dey. For those that enjoy the psychedelic tinge of Arborea or the ethereal vocals of Mary Hampton and Emily Portman you will find a draw towards their somewhat haunting otherworldly music.
Their vocals weave and overlap with dark folkloric textures which are more pronounced on the gentler paced songs such as Warm the Pot (session below) but even when the pace is picked up with aid of percussion and electric guitar that silken thread still works its magic as can be heard on Tenth January. The highlight of the album for us however, and our Song of the Day, is Save my heart whose off-kilter opening and brass interludes seem to offer the perfect companion to the duo, it has some lovely quirky moments that enrich their sound.
