You know we can’t get enough of Cosmo Sheldrake here on Folk Radio UK, well a trail of breadcrumbs led to another great breakthrough act recently: Sivu is a 24-year-old UK now London based artist who first came to prominence earlier this year, following a really unique video filmed live within an MRI scanner. Many are now sitting up and taking notice of his music which features strange sounds and textures, a common ground shared with Cosmo Sheldrake…so not unusual then that Sivu has just unveiled a new remix by Cosmo for his song ‘I Lost Myself’ which you can listen to below:
If you were wondering what the original sounded like here’s the official video:
Directed by long-term collaborator and ex-flat-mate Adam Powell, the video for ‘I Lost Myself’ sets Sivu “on a voyage of discovery around California, where we lost our minds.” The song’s inspiration – the drug and alcohol culture James became exposed to when moving to London – are transported to downtown Vegas, and the 45-degree heat of the Nevada desert. It’s a sometimes-surreal clip, complimenting the lyrical theme of “getting bogged down by life, and wanting to go and destroy yourself.”
Sivu clearly mixes in fine circles as the 24-year-old has also confirmed a joint headline tour with annother FRUK favourite Marika Hackman for December, featuring a London date at The Lexington on December 11. He is also currently on the road with London Grammar (another fav!). His ‘I Lost Myself’ EP, released via Signal Records/Atlantic Records, is out now.
