The Leigh Folk Festival in collaboration with Stone Tape Recordings and Sundown Arts brings you Midwinter Folk on Saturday 14th Decemeber; a fundraiser for the 2014 Leigh Folk Festival providing the finest in folk music and poetry.
Taking place around the winter solstice, the event takes place in the haunting venue of the New Road Methodist Church, with two floors of unique programming and some exclusive performances. The artists include Josienne Clarke and Ben Walker, recently nominated for Best Duo in the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, The Owl Service, Stick in the Wheel, actor and poet Dudley Sutton, and local band The Lucky Strikes, whose latest album has heralded great reviews in the music press.
The event is to raise awareness and raise funds for the 2014 festival, as the entire 4-day festival is run entirely by volunteers and dependent on public donations. The festival is widely recognised as the largest free event of its type in the UK.
Admission for this event is £8 adv. and includes an exclusive CD of selected artists from the programme.
