My reasons for selecting Mick Turner’s (Dirty Three) ‘The Bird Catcher’ as our Song of the Day owes as much to the video as the music. The improvised performance by the late actress Karen Black is unforgettable. It is fraught with such raw emotive power and is incredibly moving and the makes ‘Bird Catcher’ a truly magical piece.
The track is from Mick’s new LP/CD “Don’t Tell the Driver” which is out on November 19, 2013 on Drag City. The video was directed by Cam Archer whom he has previously worked with before.
