Two Wings was formed in 2009 by Hanna Tuulikki and guitarist/singer Ben Reynolds both of whom were already well known at that time for pushing boundaries on the leftfield music scene. It was in 2012 that their music combusted in all its glory with the release of their debut album Love’s Spring on Tin Angel Records. Their sound was expansive and ground-breaking featuring an expanded lineup of Kenneth Wilson, Lucy Duncombe and Owen Curtis Williams. Described as a hybrid of Ceilidh band stomp, deep-fried Acid-Country twang, 1970s Me Generation Soft Rock harmonies, Memphis soul, Olde English…they turned any preconceptions on its head and took their music to the frontier and beyond!
Our Song of the Day is ‘Loveless’ which is taken from their forthcoming album A Wake which is due for release next year. This video was recorded back in June for Toronto-based video blog Southern Souls whilst in the city for NXNE.
The good news is that Two Wings are set to take flight again with a UK tour that starts next Tuesday in London. They’ll be performing music from their forthcoming album “A Wake”. Label mate Doug Tielli will join them on this tour as special guest.
