The latest live release in The Mark Radcliffe Folk Sessions series comes from the Australian vocal collective The Spooky Men’s Chorale. These three brilliant tracks, originally recorded for BBC Radio 2’s Folk Show, will be available to stream and download from October the 6th 2013 via Delphonic Music. This taster will be enough to give you a flavour of why they are in such demand.
It includes We are Not a Men’s Group which features on their new album The Spooky Man in History an album that they promise is a glistening behemoth of indeterminate purpose, but certainly true to these sections of the spooky constitution:
Section 5: “The spookyman shall intonate the correct note with the correct vowel, consonant or diphthong at the correct time, with the correct timbre and in the correct order, mindful of the correct attitude, bodily movement and/or gesture, gait and volume while expressing the correct aspect of deadpan.”
and
Section 19: “The spookyman, traversing ‘out there’ prairielands along esoteric paths of gratitude, will elude the intertwingling threads of objectivity and grasp flailingly the incognisable big black.”
