James Vincent McMorrow has announced plans for his second album, ‘Post Tropical’, which will see a release on January 13 via Believe Recordings in the UK and Vagrant Records in the US (The Hold Steady, PJ Harvey, Edward Sharpe). A European tour has also been confirmed for the New Year, including a headline London show at the Barbican (January 26). A trailer featuring new music from ‘Post Tropical’ has debuted this week, with the album’s first single set to première in the coming weeks.
On a pecan farm half a mile from the Mexican border, ‘Post Tropical’ was born – a collection of sounds and ideas brought to life in rooms where the low frequencies of passing freight trains vibrated in the studio, briefly disturbing the birds in the rafters. And like most new ideas, ‘Post Tropical’ is hard to describe. It requires attention and engagement. It seduces you towards hidden depths.
James has confirmed the following UK and Ireland shows for 2014 which includes Celtic Connections and will announce further plans for ‘Post Tropical’ shortly.
