The ABC of Canadian Music is none other than Awna Teixeira (Po’ Girl), Brandy Zdan (ex-Twilight Hotel) and Cara Luft (ex-Wailin’ Jennys). This is their first time touring together under their new collective banner and the shows promise to be an unforgettable experience. They will be touring the UK & Ireland tour in October (dates below) performing three individual sets in the first half with all three playing together after the interval.
Awna Teixeira
Awna is best known as a memeber of Po’ Girl from whom she took some time out to record a solo album and to try her hand at writing childrens stories. We reviewed her début solo album ‘Where the Darkness Goes‘ which she released last year followed by a UK tour.

Brandy Zadan
Now solo following the break-up of the twice Juno-nominated Canadian duo Twilight Hotel, like Awna, Brandy has a captivating voice and can play a multitude of instruments including gorgeous lap steel guitar and blistering Hohner accordion. Brandy has just released Lone Hunter, her first solo release for 5 years, and continues her long association with Austin all-female group The Trishas.
Cara Luft
Cara should need no introduction to Folk Radio UK readers as her latest album ‘Darlingford‘ was one of our Album of the Month back in May this year. Born into a folk music family in Calgary, Alberta, Cara Luft played with dulcimers and autoharps while her peers played with Barbies and Nintendo. She went on to record a couple of solo records before forming the Wailin’ Jennys and recording the exquisite Juno winning 40 Days. Since leaving the trio she has wowed audiences and critics with her solo performances across North America and Europe and in 2012 released her fourth CD Darlingford which features an all-star cast of guest musicians.
