Peter Mulvey seems to have a natural penchant for touring as he heads out on another several hundred miles for his seventh annual bicycle tour with a cadre of friends through Michigan. Peter’s inspiration for such a journey is plain and simple: “To step off of the whole 21st Century Gerbil Wheel, if only for a little while. To get where I’m going using the one thing I truly, truly own: my human body, my human self. Riding a bicycle made by a small German company, playing a guitar made by a small, family-owned American company.”
After this he’ll be heading down the West Coast, and then the Lamplighter Sessions at Club Passim in Cambridge, MA which Peter is curating. The sessions will feature a broad array of ensemble, band, and in-the-round formats. On each of the six nightly sessions, Peter will be joined by a rotating mix of – in all – 18 fellow songwriters, musicians, comrades and friends.
He’ll be joining up with a few FRUK favourites on tour: he’s opening for Gregory Alan Isakov as well as performing with The Dunwells and Cahalen Morrison, full tour details can be found here.
Peter also has a new album coming soon and has just completed the tracking in LA: “The tracking for the new record went fantastically. Working with Chuck Prophet was like wrestling a crocodile on Ritalin. And the musical cast assembled brought the love. People I feel good. I feel rejuvenated.”
In the meantime, here’s a free track from Peter, this is ‘Some People’:
