Today’s Song of the Day is very special. It’s from Reuben Taylor who plays in James Yorkston’s band The Athletes and it’s sung by their bass player Doogie Paul who died of cancer late last year.
I was reading some tributes to Doogie recently and stumbled across this interview which was filmed at Bryn Derwyn studios in Wales in 2006, when he was there recording with James Yorkston for The Year of The Leopard album.
A memorial concert was held for Doogie earlier this month which featured Mogwai, Sheena Wellington, King Creosote, Alasdair Roberts, Kathryn Williams, James Yorkston and Ian Rankin. You can pay your condolences and share memories of Doogie at a public facebook group here.
