Many of you will know the name Phil Tyler as being the other half of a well known duo with Cath Tyler who released the highly regarded album Dumb Supper back in 2008. Phil heads out on his own with banjo on his new release We Sunk The Ship To Get Rid Of The Rats which is co-released with Rif Mountain. The album features mainly solo banjo instrumentals with some vocals from Phil and Sarah Hill. We’ve a small taster below along with another track that Phil recorded with Sarah for a seperate project which I love to bits, being a big Anne Briggs fan. As you can hear from Hero’s Mustard which also features fiddle these are as timeless and authentic as his other work. I’ve ordered my copy!
The album is released as a CDr limited to 200 copies which in a Screen printed card gatefold sleeve (image below).
Sarah and Phil (from a seperate project)performing Living by the Water, a beautiful old song that I’m sure many of you have heard Anne Briggs sing.
Order the album here via Tor Press or Rif Mountain.
