Stick in the Wheel are a London based folk singing trio whose debut EP1 was recorded mainly in their kitchens, that DIY touch is also present in their CD which is features a handprinted archival card sleeve and handprinted CD. They’ve made quite an impression on the London folk scene playing at Before the Goldrush, Folkroom Fortnightly, Cecil Sharp House, Walthamstow Folk Club and more.
They have a rustic alternative edge that leans closer to the likes of the Owl Service than the more typically traditional folk bands. Their delivery has an energy that is raw, primal and uplifting, Bows of London is a cracking opener which moves at a fair rousing pace, the whole EP is nothing short of brilliant.
They provided backing vocals on Wolf People’s latest album Fain as well as supporting them on tour which will no doubt help give them some well deserved extra exposure.
