When it comes to innovation and excitement I can honestly hold my hand up and say that Sproatly Smith and Rapunzel and Sedayne are two folk music acts that fall firmly into that camp. We first became aware of them after Folk Police Records sent albums our way and since then we’ve been well and truly hooked.
Fourth Tenth Promotions have them performing as a double bill this month on Tuesday 18th June at The Musician in Leicester which is an unmissable event. To tickle your fancy Sproatly Smith revealed two tracks last night Sproatly vs. Sedayne – GENTLE SISTERHOOD and a remix by James Mckeown, of sproatly Smith’s: Rosebud in June taken from their forthcoming remix album on Reverb Worship.
Sproatly vs. Sedayne – GENTLE SISTERHOOD
Rosebud in June (James Mckeown remix)
Incorporating traditional folk, found sounds and English psychedelia into their music, Sproatly Smith are denizens of the folklore-soaked borderlands of Herefordshire.
Based in Fleetwood, Lancashire, husband and wife duo Rapunzel & Sedayne, aka Rachel McCarron and Sean Breadin, met through music, and found themselves singing together before they’d actually spoken to each other.
