Pete Flood of Bellowhead (percussionist) has offered up an ingenious reworking of Josienne Clarke & Ben Walker’s title track from their new album Fire & Fortune which is to be released on Navigator Records on 22nd July 2013. This will surprise many but anyone who remembers the Mix Pete did for Folk Radio UK back in 2011 will know his musical influences are very wide and varied, he nails this one brilliantly!
Though influenced by greats such as Sandy Denny, Richard and Linda Thompson, Nick Drake, Bert Jansch and June Tabor, ‘Fire and Fortune’ marks two musicians who have resolutely found their own path through traditional English music.
Their new album, ‘Fire and Fortune’ contains twelve tracks, some carefully selected traditional songs re-imagined; others equally carefully picked original compositions. This is timeless stuff, and its purity will stay with you long after the last note fades.
