Nia is a singer-songwriter originally from North Wales but now based in London where she has been building a solid reputation on the thriving folk circuit…and not surprisingly, she has a unique voice that really grabs your attention. You’d be forgiven for thinking you’d dug an old 78 record from a basement crate after hearing ‘Black Woman’ from her EP ‘Doctor Doctor’. She has a timeless and very raw sound that is really hard to pull off…it’s not the sort of sound you can force…you’ve got it or you ain’t…she’s got it in bucket loads. But as she shows on her four track debut her influences are far ranging, the title track features eastern Sitar blended with jazz and this is just scratching the surface…expect more great musical revelations from this great young talent!
Scheduled for big developments in 2013 – Nia is set to perform at the Secret Garden Party festival in Cambridgeshire in July. Her debut EP ‘Doctor Doctor’ was released on April 29th featuring four tracks of original material – two performed solo and two with a fascinating ragtag backing band.
