Top names in English folk, roots and acoustic music have been unveiled on the programme of English Folk Expo 2013, the inaugural event of an annual industry showcase of English music, held in Bury, Greater Manchester in the north-west of England between 17 and 20 October.
Chris Wood, Jim Moray and Jackie Oates will be among the major names from English folk music performing at English Folk Expo – to be held the weekend before the world music industry conference Womex 2013 opens its doors in Cardiff.
English folk music has enjoyed a massive resurgence in recent years.A new generation of daring and skilled artists, with a distinctly English sound, has burst onto the scene, putting folk music in the headlines of the music press and at the heart of music programming at many venues across the country and beyond.
English Folk Expo will give a wide audience of music buyers a chance to experience this exciting and rapidly expanding source of folk music talent across one weekend.
English Folk Expo will run alongside Homegrown, a public festival based in The Met in Bury and nearby venues in the town, giving delegates the opportunity to experience the live performances in front of a public audience.
Delegates will be given access to all Homegrown performances as well as delegate-only showcases, networking events and a trade fair giving the chance to form new working relationships with the folk, roots and acoustic music industry in England.
