This year we are very proud to be sponsoring Hothouse Festival at Halsway Manor in Somerset (near Taunton) on Saturday 6th April 2013. Hothouse is a one-day folk festival – created by young people for young people – showcasing some of the best up-and-coming and established young folk talent. We have a preview show this week on Folk Radio UK!
Hothouse promises to be a great festival and you couldn’t pick a nicer location, the festival will be held inside Halsway Manor this year so it will not be at the mercy of the elements and if it does turn out to be nice day then you can enjoy the beautiful and historic grounds!
To get a taster of the artists performing this year we have a special preview show which can be heard from tomorrow (broadcast schedule below). The show is hosted by Will Lang, a Folk musician, composer and producer, who is a core tutor on Newcastle University’s Folk and Traditional Music degree and it also includes an interview with Jamie Smith about his new Manx trio Barrule. The show will include tracks from those artists appearing as well as an interview with Jamie Smith (Mabon) who will be appearing this year in the fabulous Manx band Barrule.
We will be at Halsway Manor on the day to record some of the live performances throughout the day and to do a spot of DJing. Also attending will be our good friends ‘Songs from the Shed‘ who will be recording some great sessions. There will also be an open mic stage for anyone who fancies a go as well as a ceilidh for the energetic, dance workshops and the ever popular Silent Disco which will see Will Lang and Folk Radio UK going head to head on the turntables into the late evening!
