We think it will be a very good year for folk quartet The May Birds who are comprised of Alice, Ella, Camilla and Charlotte. With their first single ‘Inside Out’ released last month they have already been picking up high praise and airplay on the likes of BBC radio. They have a great sound based around two guitars, piano, cello and occasional percussion…not forgetting four sublime vocalists, they are a very promising band.
They have a great conviction behind what they do and were brave enough to adopt a D.I.Y approach to promotion (no label or agent) which seems to have worked very well with them getting support slots with the likes of Ben Howard, Jesca Hoop, Smoke Fairies, Sea of Bees and Big Deal.
They have also had the pleasure of playing at The Great Escape Festival in Brighton, the UK’s equivalent of SXSW which is attended by many big names from the music industry and is where a lot of initial musical discovery takes place. If you’re looking to catch them live check their website or try their regular spot at Blacks, a club in Soho, London.
