I never cease to be amazed by the dedication and lengths many artists go to to get their music heard. For most it becomes a way of life…sinking every penny into recording, gigs and promotion…something which often means living a simple life in order to make your dreams a reality. Whilst we can’t cover everyone we do try and uncover new and emerging artists that catch our attention. Jack Wilson is one such artist we recently came acros. He has that sort of lived in voice that sounds both classic and new at the same time…blending folk and americana he creates some beautiful breath-taking music.
“Ten years have passed since I played my first show at the long-gone Steamboat in Austin, Texas. Since those teenage dreams, I’ve moved to Seattle, moved back to Austin, back to Seattle and back to Austin again. I’ve lived in tents, on porches, and in a schoolbus. I’ve traveled by planes, trains, automobiles and by bicycle…all in the name of MUSIC. All with an undying spirit of adventure!
“This summer I took on my longest and most successful tour yet. 36 states. 15,000 miles. Just me and Finn, my dog.”
Jack is recording an LP this May with the help of Shenandoah Davis, Sean Nelson, and producer Mike Coykendall (M. Ward-Transfiguation of Vincent), Fluff and Gravy will release his new LP, The Right Questions to Ask. The label is a small one with limited resources and though they have been “more than generous up to now, paying for all the recording, mixing, and pressing of the record, all will be for not, without the proper amount of promotion.” Jack has a Kickstarter Campaign underway to riase funds to help promote the album.
