Sweden-based rock trio Junip have announced the release of a self-titled second LP. The trio, consisting of Elias Araya (drums), José González (guitar, vocals), and Tobias Winterkorn (organ, moog), will release the new album on 22 April 2013 which promises to bring more pastoral contemplation which showcases the boldness and joy the Gothenburg based trio experienced in crafting the release.
Junip has existed since 1999, maybe even 1998 according to their biography. The continual postponements made the project seem like a pipe dream. José González referred to it as “like chasing a teenage dream. I’ve felt during interviews that I was just talking about castles in the air. We talked about it every time we met, but my touring always forced us to postpone things.” With their critically acclaimed debut album Fields (2010) under their belt the new album will see them building on that success…here’s a small taster of what’s to come:
